Notes:

15 Apr 1796 the Malabar, Captain John Parr, sent with troops to take possession of the Dutch settlements of Demerara, Essequibo, and Berbice, in Dutch Guayana. By the 2 May, the 3 settlements had surrendered peaceably to the British arms and in the process a Dutch 24-gun ship Thetis, a 12-gun cutter, with several richly-laden merchant vessels, were captured at Demerara.
