The Hired Packet Duke of Marlborough, which operated between Falmouth and Lisbon for a number of years circa 1829-32 was often referred to simply as the Marlborough !!

23 Mar 1861 Portsmouth. Commissioned for Service in the Mediterranean.

12 Jul 1861 departed Portsmouth harbour, carried out trials in Stokes Bay and anchored out at Spithead to take in sea stores etc.

16 Jul 1861 departed for St Helen's Roads and is expected to sail for the Mediterranean tomorrow morning.

16 Dec 1861 at Malta.

Circa 1862 one of the "smartest" ships that ever floated.

1 Jan to 1 Dec 1864 Mediterranean Station. Medical overview. Reports of Fevers, Respiration and Scarlatina onboard. Number of Cases of Disease and Injury.
