It is my experience that Flag Officers on the West Indies station weren't averse to sending out vessels, invariably former privateers, that had been detained, and often in very poor condition, from the flag ships under the command of Lieutenants, apparently with a view to giving the flag ship a bit of prize money, and one wonders if this might have been one of these vessels ?....although I would have thought that since the money was spread amongst the ship's company of the flag ship little money would reach the prize crews if Lieutenant Michael Fitton's experiences are anything to go by ? www.pbenyon.plus.com/Lt_Fitton/Lt_M_FITTON.html
