7 Apr 1829 detained in amongst the Bahamas, near the Berry Islands or Rocks, in lat. 25� 50�' N., long. 77� 45�' the Spanish slave schooner Josefa / Josepha, alias Fortuna, Ramon Casal, master, 1 x 12-pr. gun, a crew of 21 men, with 206 slaves on board, which was sent for adjudication to ?? and on 15 Apr 1829 sentenced to be condemned. 27 Jun 1829 Detained the brig Midas, alias Providencia, Don Ildefonso Martinez, master, of 205 tons, following an action of 35 minutes in lat. 25� 55' N., long. 79� 12' W., bound from Bonny to Havana. She mounted four long 18-prs. and four medium 12-prs., with a crew of more than 50 men, of whom 1 was killed and 3 were wounded, and no injuries experienced by the Monkey. 562 negroes were reported to have been embarked on the coast of Africa, and that by the time she was boarded only 400 remained, and that during the following night 39 threw themselves into the sea, with 78 dying during the passage to Havana, and 10 at Havana. The Midas was sent for adjudication to the British and Spanish Mixed Court at Havana, and on 14 Jul 1829 sentenced to be condemned. See also p. 268 at www.archive.org/details/royalnavyhistory06clow.

8 Jul 1829 has returned to Havana from a cruise, during which she detained the Midas.

Portsmouth 6 Sep 1829 per the Druid, arrived from Jamaica, the Monkey was reported to be based on the Bahamas, whilst cruising among the Keys suppressing piracy.

1830 Tender to Blossom, on the Jamaica Station.

26 Jan 1831 Manly arrived at Nassau from Jamaica and remained with the Blossom, Nimble, and Monkey.

21 Feb 1831 prize money due for Midas, captured 27 Jun 1829 ; and Josefa, captured 7 Apr 1829, due to be paid.
