Notes:

Weevil Biscuit Bakery, Gosport
9 Apr 1842 the Woevil (at Gosport) and Deptford Biscuit Factories are preparing a large supply of biscuit, mainly for use by troops in India and China. The Indiaman Cornwall, at Spithead, is taking on board 10,000 bags of bread (naval term for biscuits in those days). Spelling of Weevil / Woevil appears to be optional, Woevil apparently being the name of the farm that was on the site of the biscuit factory, and I guess it doesn't take much brain power to see/know how the name evolved ;-)

Woevill Victualling Yard 25 Aug 1842 the Plymouth machine bakery is ordered to be put into a state of effectiveness under T.T. Grant, Esq., and when ready for work will be manned by men from the Woevill baker at Gosport, where the ovens etc., require repair and maintenance.

Woevill Victualling Yard 25 Aug 1842 the Admiralty Board inspected the Victualling Yard.

11 Oct 1861 Increase of the Salary of Master Attendant of Royal Clarence Victualling Yard to 500.
