26 Jul 1808 During the night has been in pursuit of smuggling boats which on landing, fired upon the men in the Custom-house boats, resulting in two men, Ellis and Bruce, being killed and a third seriously wounded, probably fatally ; two others are slightly wounded. A jury has returned a verdict of wilful murder by persons unknown. Two boats and a part of the goods were recovered, but the smugglers escaped.

Whereas it has been represented to His Majesty that, about Twelve o'clock on the Night of the 22d inst, the Boats of the Nimble Cutter and Asp Lugger, in the Service of HM Customs, fell in with and drove on Shore, at the North End of Deal, two smuggling ten-oared galleys ; and that, on the approach of the revenue boats, the smugglers, who were assembled on the beach, together with others who had landed from the said galleys, commenced a very heavy discharge of muskets and blunderbusses on the crews of the revenue boats, whereby Robert Bruce, a Mariner of the Nimble, and John Ellis, a Mariner of the Asp, were shot dead, and John Wilson and William Burwich, were dangerously wounded.

Circa 31 Dec 1814 under the command of Richd. Thrum, based on the Sheerness Station, and responsible to the English Board.

18 Dec 1815 sent into Dover a smuggling lugger with spirits and tobacco.

Circa 1 Sep 1816 under the command of Lt W Morgan.

Jan-Feb 1817 Lieut Joseph Williams, formerly CO of the Mistletoe appointed as Commander of the RC Nimble, on the Sheerness Station.

12 Mar 1817 seized a smuggling boat, name unknown, and spirits.

22 Jan 1818 prize money resulting from the seizure of the smuggling boat, name unknown, and spirits, taken on 12 Mar 1817, is now due to be paid.
