25 Aug 1793 captured the French privateer Sans Culottes on the coast of America.

2 May - 1 Jun 1794 Departure of the Channel Fleet from St. Helen's, and the lead up to actions and manoeuvres with the French fleet. 5 May 1794 Covered frigates looking into Brest Roads. 29 May - 1 Jun., what was to be known as the Battle of the Glorious 1st June commences, resulting in the capture of six sail of the line and one sunk. Review of the part performed by each British ship engaged. 13 Jun, the fleet arrived back in home ports.

7-21 Sep 1794 the Channel Fleet departed from Torbay to cruise off the coast of France, but as a result of bad weather returned to Torbay.

14 Feb 1795 the Channel fleet departed from Torbay for a brief cruise and to see various convoys safe out of the Channel.

12 Jun 1795 the Channel Fleet, under Lord Bridport, including the Orion, Captain Sir James Saumarez, departed from Spithead for Quiberon bay. 22 Jun sighted the French fleet to west of Belle-Isle, and finding the French admiral had no wish for a fight, ordered the Fleet in chase and to engage as ships came up. During the chase the former British 74, Alexander was retaken, along with the French 74s Tigre and Formidable (subsequently renamed Belleisle). And so ended the Battle of the Isle de Groix.

20 Sep 1795 Lord Bridport remained with his fleet off the coast protecting the ill-conceived Quiberon Bay expeditions until 20 Sep, when he returned with 2 or 3 ships to Spithead, leaving Rear-admiral Harvey in command.

15 Oct 1795 Melampus and Latona, and later the Orion and Thalia, and later still the Pomone and Concorde, departed in chase of the two French frigates, the Tortue and N�r�ide, and the corvette Eveill�, 16. However, the closeness of the shore and prevailing weather conditions meant that the chase for the frigates was curtailed. But the Eveill� was less fortunate, and was taken by the Pomone and the Thunderer, 74, which had also appeared on the scene.

19 Jan 1797 detached from the Channel Fleet to Gibraltar.

Circa 20 Jan 1797 departed from the Tagus with a Portuguese convoy and was subsequently, 6 Feb., joined off Cape St.-Vincent by a squadron detached from the Channel fleet.

2 May 1798 Nelson in the Vanguard departed from off Cadiz for Gibraltar, departing that place on the 9th to the east, accompanied by the Alexander, Orion, Emerald, Terpsichore, and Bonne-Citoyenne.

14 Aug 1798 the Orion, Bellerophon, Minotaur, Defence, Audacious, Theseus, and Majestic, accompanied by the prizes Franklin, Tonnant, Aquilon, Conqu�rant, Peuple-Souverain and Spartiate leave Aboukir Bay.

Mid Sep 1798 arrive Gibraltar with prizes and after making repairs sail for England leaving the Peuple-Souverain (re-named Guerrier) behind as a guard ship.

16 Mar 1801 commissioned at Plymouth and now alongside the Jetty Head.

9 Apr 1801 this morning made signals to go into Cawsand Bay, but it blowing too hard, struck the signals at at 2 p.m.

11 Apr 1801 went into Cawsand Bay, to depart shortly for Spithead, to be manned, and then to join the North Sea fleet.

25 Apr 1801 departed Cawsand Bay for the Eastward.

12 Sep 1801 arrived at Plymouth the Orion, from off Rochefort, and went into Cawsand Bay. She left Sir E. Pellew's squadron all well last Thursday ; he had recalled all the fire-ships intended to burn the Rochefort squadron, as they were too strongly protected by numerous batteries.

28 Sep 1801 departed Plymouth for the Channel Fleet.

28 Oct 1801 the Namur is reported to have led the Atlas, Princess Royal, Formidable, Windsor Castle and Orion into Bearhaven harbour. It has subsequently blown hard and the Orion carried away her main and mizen masts and has been detached to Plymouth. The Glory, Malta and Resolution had parted in a fog and were expected shortly.

8 Nov 1801 came into Plymouth Sound the Orion, from the squadron off Bantry Bay; she carried away her mizen and main masts in a violent gale of wind at N. W. and was towed into Cawsand Bay by the boats of the fleet there, after being ashore between the Ram[e] Head and Penlee Point.

11 Nov 1801 arrived Cawsand Bay to make good needy repairs.

17 Nov 1801 letters received Plymouth from the Namur, dated the 9th instant, from Bantry Bay, state, that the Vengeance, and Resolution, had arrived safe there, after experiencing dreadful gales of wind in the storm of the 1st instant, when embayed with the Orion, on the west coast of Ireland.

14 Dec 1801 departed Cawsand Bay the Orion for Torbay, having been victualled and stored for foreign service.

16 Dec 1801 arrived Torbay and departed almost immediately.

29 Dec 1801 this evening anchored at St Helen's, IoW, on arrival from Bantry Bay, with the squadron under the command of V.-Adm. Sir A. Mitchell, with a view to trying the mutineers from the Squadron.

5 Jan 1802 the Temeraire, out at Spithead with the Formidable, Majestic, Theseus, Orion, Resolution, Vengeance and Resistance, are ordered to refit and victual for the West Indies, with all possible haste.

15-16 Jan 1802 the following ships, under the command of R.-Adm. Campbell, dropped down to St. Helen's. They will sail, with sealed orders, the first fair wind, supposed for Jamaica : Temeraire, 98, R.-Adm. G. Campbell, Captain Eyles ; Formidable, 98, Captain Grindall ; Majestic, 74, Captain Gould ; Orion, 74, Captain Cuthbert ; Theseus, 74, Captain Bligh ; Desiree, 44, Captain Dacres ; and Morgiana, 18, Captain Otter.

7 Feb 1802 departed St. Helen's the Temeraire, 98, R.-Adm Campbell, Capt Eyles ; Formidable, 98, Capt Grindall ; Majestic, 74, Capt Gould ; Orion, 74, Capt Cuthbert ; Vengeance, 74, Capt Duff ; Resolution, 74, Capt Gardner ; Theseus, 74, Capt Bligh ; Desiree, 44, Capt Dacres ; and the Morgiana, store ship, 16, Capt Otter ; with sealed orders, supposed for Jamaica.

9 Feb 1802 owing to the contrary winds, rain and bad weather, put into Torbay : the Temeraire, Formidable, Theseus, Majestic, Orion, Vengeance, Resolution, Desiree, and Morgiana, and departed later for their destination.

13 May 1802 the Brunswick, Bellona, Vengeance, Orion, Defence, Edgar, Elephant, Powerful, and Carnatic departed Jamaica for England.

24 Jun 1802 arrived St Helen's this morning and later in the day was brought up to Spithead the Orion, 74, Captain Cuthbert, from Jamaica, in company with the Bellona, Vengeance, Brunswick, after a passage of 6 weeks. The Defence, Edgar, Elephant, Powerful, and Carnatic came home with them, the four former vessels having been sent to the Eastward to be paid off, the latter being sent in to Plymouth.

1 Jul 1802 came into Portsmouth harbour to be paid off.

8 Jul 1802 the Bellona, Orion, Vengeance, and Brunswick, have been paid off at Portsmouth this week, and laid up in ordinary.

May 1805 Portsmouth, fitting in Ordinary.

26 Jul 1807 departed as a part of a fleet of 38 vessels for Copenhagen and was present from 15 Aug - 20 Oct for the siege and bombardment of Copenhagen and capture of Danish Fleet by Adm. Gambier. 1 Aug employed in the Great Belt, preventing Danish troops crossing to Zealand.
