Mar 1889 Reports received from onboard suggest that the positioning of her bunkers in relation to the stokehold are seriously flawed, since trunks used for supplying coal became blocked, and when on passage to Australia it was neccesary to employ deck hands to assist the stokers.

1890 Flag Ship Australia Station. Includes officers borne for duties with stores at Sydney and the Victorian Naval Defence Force. Tender: Paluma

19 June 1900 Serving in Chinese waters during the Boxer Rebellion.

20 June 1900 At Tientsin. Killed. Private H. Robinson, Royal Marines, HMS Orlando.
