Plymouth 4 Oct 1796 Refitted and ordered as guardship in the Downs.

7 Jun 1797 off Deal, as guardship for the Downs.

1 Jan 1799 a Guardship at Sheerness.

13 Aug-Oct 1799 employed on expedition to Holland.

25 Nov 1799 a Court Martial was held on board the Overyusel, on Captain Rose of the Espion frigate, lost on the Goodwin Sands. The decision of the Court was, that the Pilot be imprisoned six months and a day, and be rendered incapable of taking charge of any of his Majesty's ships for the time to come ; that the Master be suspended ; and that Captain Rose, his other Officers and crew, be honourably acquitted.

30 Dec 1800 remained off Deal.

3 Jan 1801 Adm. Lutwidge hoisted his flag, blue, at the main, at Deal.

8 Feb 1801 remains in the Downs.

27 Feb 1801 remains in the Downs.

22 Mar 1801 remains in the Downs.

8 Apr 1801 remains in the Downs.

3 Jun 1801 remains in the Downs.

10 Jun 1801 Adm Lutwidge shifted his flag from the Overyusel to the Savage sloop of war. The Overyusel is to be sailed to Sheerness with the Beaver sloop.

11 Jun 1801 arrived Sheerness the Overyusel, Capt Le Gatt, from the Downs, to be paid.

13 Jun 1801 departed Sheerness for the Downs, and resumed her station as Guardship.

14 Jun 1801 Adm Lutwidge shifted his flag back to the Overyusel from the Savage sloop of war.

23 Jul 1801 arrived in the Downs, the Alonzo, sloop ; Lord Duncan, Kent, cutters ; Hecla, Terror, Discovery, Sulphur, Zebra, and Volcano, bombs ; with their tenders, and Alecto, fire-ship ; Griper, Boxer, Wrangler, Teazer, Furious, Tigress, Biter, and Bouncer, gun-brigs, from Yarmouth.

9 Sep 1801 the Overyssel, Magicienne, Amazon, Leyden, Alkmaar, York, Isis, Shannon, Gannet, Hound, Gier, and Autumn sloops ; Volcano, Vesuvius, Terror, Discovery, Zebra bombs ; Victoire, Nancy & Akers, fire ships ; the Locust, Plumper, Bold, Eclipse, Ferriter, Snipe, Minx, Jackall, and Mallard, gun vessels, apart from seven gun brigs who were about to depart that evening with the Eugenie and Diligence for the Coast of France ; remained in the Downs overnight.

25 Sep 1801 remains in the Downs, the Overyssel, Leyden, Alkmaar ; sloops Hound, Arrow ; bombs Volcano, Vesuvius, Terror, Zebra, and Hecla ; Snipe, gun vessel ; Nancy, Akers, Victoire, and Ferret, Fire vessels.

4 Nov 1801 Adm Lutwidge struck his flag to attend a Court Martial at Portsmouth.

20 Nov 1801 Commodore Sutton raised his pendant on board the Nemesis, and remains in the Downs, in company with the Overyssel, Amazon, Alkmaar, Medusa, Brilliant, Jamaica ; Gannet, and Galgo, sloops ; Mallard, Snipe, Ferreter, Locust, Charger and Vixen, gun vessels ; Express, advice boat ; Ranger, brig ; and the Swift, East India Pilot.

30 Nov 1801 the Nemesis arrived back in the Downs, with the Arrow, and Charger, and remains with the Overyssel, Amazon, Alkmaar, Medusa, Brilliant, Jamaica ; Gannet, and Galgo.

5 Dec 1801 Adm Lutwidge raised his flag on board the Overyssel in the Downs.

10 Dec 1801 the Overyssel, Adm Lutwidge ; Nemesis, Commodore Sutton ; Amazon, Woolwich, Chichester, Brilliant ; Arrow, Gannet, Galgo and Eugenie sloops ; Ranger and Anacreon, brigs ; remain in the Downs with a large fleet of East Indiamen ; wind West, moderate.

10 Dec 1801 the Overyssel, Adm Lutwidge ; Nemesis, Commodore Sutton ; Amazon, Brilliant ; Aurora, Savage, Galgo and Eugenie sloops ; Express, advice boat ; Ranger, brig ; remains in the Downs ; wind SSW.

22 Dec 1801 has been surveyed and is reported to be unfit for further service.

4 Jan 1802 Adm Lutwidge transferred his flag from the Overyssel to the Amazon. The former then departed the Downs for Sheerness.

6 Jan 1802 arrived Sheerness having experienced a rough passage.

7 Jan 1802 departed Sheerness for Chatham to be paid off.

17 Nov-30 Dec 1802 prize money resulting from the expedition to Holland due for payment.

May 1805 Chatham in Ordinary.
