23 Sep 1803 arrived this afternoon from a cruise, having on Tuesday last fallen in with two Dutch schooner privateers off the Texel, one carrying 12 guns and 70 men ; the other 8 guns and 50 men. The first broadside from the schooner killed the Boatswain and Gunner, and dangerously wounded Lieut Scott, who died the following day. The Master, John Thomas, of Dover, continued the action at close quarters for an hour afterwards, during which the bowsprit of the largest schooner was frequently on his stern [presumably with a view to boarding] ; but finding the cutter was considerably damaged in her rigging and two more of his men badly wounded...... ; the final broadside from the cutter, within pistol shot, was sufficient to deter the Dutch from returning for another attempt.

24 Sep 1803 arrived at Dover, not being able to get into the Downs this tide.

12 Dec 1803 arrived Portsmouth from off Havre de Grace with reports that the frigate Shannon, Capt E L Gower, on Sunday last, got ashore close under the batteries of La Hogue, and was immediately surrounded by a number of French boats and her crew taken prisoner and her stores removed. The cutters Pigmy and Minerva, with several armed vessels, were sent in to attempt to destroy her, which could not be achieved, however, it appears that she has since gone to pieces in the recent bad weather.

17 Mar 1808 His Majesty's Hired Cutter, Princess Augusta, Yarmouth Roads.
Sir, I have the Honour to inform you, that whilst cruizing, pursuant to your Orders, the Texel then bearing S. 40 E. distant Forty Miles, I fell in with, on the Evening of the 5th, and gave chace to a French Cutter Privateer, which, after a Chace of Twenty-four Hours, I drove on Shore at Katwick, it then blowing too fresh for the Boats to attack here and perceiving her Crew unrigging of her, I stood as close in as possible, and attacked her from the Cutter, which she returned ; but on the Evening of the 8th, the Weather moderating, I sent my Boats in, and had the Pleasure of effectually destroying her, under a heavy Fire of Musketry from the Shore.
She proved to be, from the Information of the Fishermen, the Dunkerquois of Dunkirk, mounting Four Three-Pounders and Forty-five Men ; formerly His Majesty's Revenue Cutter Nimble, of Deal.
I have the Honour to be, &c. (Signed) A. M'Culloch.
