10 Oct 1799 the frigate Crescent captured the French vessel Arethuse, later purchased into the Service as the sloop Raven.

11 Sep 1800 Plymouth, fitting in dock.

2 Jan 1801 departed Plymouth on a cruise the Raven, of 18 guns, Captain Saunders.

19 Jan 1801 departed Falmouth on a cruise.

27 Jan 1801 arrived Falmouth Unity's Hope, Senboe, bound from Trieste to Altona, sent in by the Raven.

3 Feb 1801 sent into Plymouth the following detained Danish merchantmen, viz. the Twee Gebroeders, of Altona, Vandertook, master, laden with salt, from Noirmoutier, for Altona.

13 Mar 1801 departed the Downs with a convoy for the River Thames.

15 Mar 1801 departed the Downs this morning with a convoy destined for the East Indies.

17 Mar 1801 put back to the Downs the convoy which departed the Downs on the 15th, due to strong S.W. winds.

14 Apr 1801 arrived Falmouth from a cruise.

11 May 1801 arrived Spithead from Yarmouth.

13 May 1801 departed Spithead for the Downs.

6 Jul 1801 arrived the Downs with a convoy from Falmouth, and remains, the convoy having departed for the River.

18 Jul 1801 departed the Downs early this morning with an outward bound convoy for Portsmouth.

21 Jul 1801 arrived Spithead with a large convoy of outward bound ships from the Downs, also includes some coasters and colliers for Portsmouth.

23 Jul 1801 departed Spithead with a convoy of coasters for the Westward.

25 Jul 1801 passed by Plymouth to the Westward with a convoy, dropping off a number of vessels which arrived in the night.

23 Aug 1801 arrived Spithead, from the Westward with a convoy.

24 Aug 1801 departed Spithead, the Raven, Capt Saunders, to the Downs with a convoy.

29 Aug 1801 arrived in the Downs with a convoy from Falmouth, which are sailed for the river. The Raven then departed for the Westward with an outward-bound convoy for Portsmouth.

9 Sep 1801 arrived Spithead the Raven, with a convoy from the Downs.

11 Sep 1801 arrived Falmouth with a convoy from the Downs.

21 Sep 1801 departed Falmouth with a convoy for the Downs.

14 Oct 1801 departed Falmouth with a convoy for the Downs in the evening. Wind SSW.

19 Oct 1801 departed the Downs with an outward bound convoy for Spithead and from thence to accompany the Blackney to Plymouth.

24 Oct 1801 arrived Spithead the Raven, Capt Saunders, with a convoy from the Downs.

25 Oct 1801 arrived Falmouth.

6 Nov 1801 at Falmouth, a boat belonging to the Contractor for the Navy at Falmouth, when going out to the Raven with stores on Wednesday night was upset by the weather and 4 seamen belonging to the boat were drowned ; a cask of rum was washed up on the beach, which was found by 4 invalids from Pendennis garrison, who drank it to excess, and one died immediately, and it is doubted whether the other 3 will survive. Although, whether the two stories are connected by anything except rum, I doubt, but that is roughly how they appeared in the paper.

10 Apr 1802 arrived Spithead the Raven, 18, Captain Saunders, from Jamaica.

2 May 1802 departed Spithead with discharged men for Leith.

7 May 1802 passed through the Downs from Spithead, for Leith.

Circa 25 May 1802 Mr Barnard, Purser of the Raven, to the Concorde.

Night of the 26-27 May 1802 passed at the back of the Goodwin Sand, for Portsmouth.

28 May 1802 arrived Spithead from Leith.

Circa 13 Jul 1802 Captain Swaine, apptd to the Raven.

23 Sep 1802 went out of Portsmouth harbour, the Raven, 18, Captain Swaine, having been re-commissioned.

2 Oct 1802 remains at Spithead.

13 Oct 1802 departed Spithead with the Sophie, 18, and troops for Jersey.

18 Oct 1802 arrived in the Downs from the westward.

20 Oct 1802 the 70th Regt disembarked from the Alcmene, Sophie, and Raven, and were marched to Dover Castle.

25 Oct 1802 departed the Downs for Spithead.

26 Oct 1802 arrived Spithead this morning with the Sophie, from from Jersey, last from the Downs.

3 Nov 1802 departed Spithead to the west.

6 Nov 1802 arrived Falmouth from Spithead, and put up posters around town, recruiting for the Royal Navy.

10 Nov 1802 departed Falmouth with despatches for the Mediterranean.

12 Dec 1802 reports at Malta that transports were due to depart shortly for Alexandria to embark the troops that remain in Egypt.

3 Mar 1803 the following vessels remained at Valetta when the Hector departed Malta, for England : the Kent, Superb, Triumph, Donegal, Gibraltar, Agincourt, Charon, Expedition, Experiment, Active, Phoebe, Niger, Victorieuse, and Resistance, the Regulus, and Raven, having departed Malta for Egypt, and the Blonde to Naples, the crew of the Raven having been reported to be sick. The Tourterelle, Pandour, were lying at Alexandria ; and the Braakel, guard ship, at Smyrna ; the Anson having departed Malta for Egypt at the latter end of November.

Circa 16 Jun 1804 a report has been received at Portsmouth regarding the Court Martial held to investigate the loss of the sloop Raven on 6 Jan 1804, on board the Kent ; after a long investigation all the officers and men, bar the master were acquitted, who was reprimanded for not having taken a sighting the day preceding the loss of the ship.
