1860 Chatham, Building

Oct 1866 commissioned for service in the Pacific.

1870 Pacific (Ordered home), 7 guns.

30 Jan 1871, arrived in Plymouth Sound, from the Pacific, last from the Falkland Isles (25 Nov). Will sail for Portsmouth once she has coaled.

2 Feb 1871, arrived at Spithead.

3 Feb 1871, entered Portsmouth Harbour to be paid-off etc.

15 Feb 1871, has paid off and her RM detachment has returned to Chatham for leave.

Earlier in 1871 Vestal recommissioned in the West Indies, but being unfit for service without a refit returned to England, and her crew were turned over to the Reindeer.

26 Aug 1871 departed for the Pacific, via Madeira and Rio de Janeiro.

18 Oct 1871 Rio de Janeiro, departed for the Falkland Isles.

2 Nov 1871 arrived in Port Louis, and the following day in Port Stanley, before departing for Valparaiso via the Straits of Magellan.

Early 1872 arrived Callao, and then departed for the island of Juan Fernandez, before returning to Valparaiso and heading back to Callao.

22 Jul 1872 bloody revolution broke out in Peru, which involved protection of the British residents at Callao.

Which was followed by a passage to Mazatlan, Mexico, calling at the Galapagos Islands en route. Further local difficulties were experienced on the coast of Mexico.

Mar 1873 departed for La-Libertad, the seaport of San Salvador, following reports of an earthquake in that area.

3 Apr 1873 arrived Panamma from Fonseca Bay.

30 Apr 1873 departed Panama and touched once more at the Galapagos Islands, en route for Esquimalt, Vancouver Island, arriving 22nd June.

28 Oct 1873 Vancouver, received orders to proceed to Panama, touching at San Francisco, San Blas and other ports en route.
