7 Dec 1870 a ship's boat upset in Yokohama Bay, resulting in the drowning of Commander E. J. Brooks, and Ordinary Seaman John Walsh, both of the Ringdove, and Mr James Bowles, assistant paymaster, additional, of the Ocean, who were on a shooting expedition.
