19 Feb 1794 Late Minerve, raised, having been sunk at San Fiorenzo by the French and was taken into the service as the San Fiorenzo.

9 Mar 1797 San Fiorenzo and Nymphe capture the French frigate R�sistance and corvette Constance.

3 Jun 1797 captured the French privateer Unit�.

1 Jul 1797 captured the French privateer Castor sixty leagues west of Scilly.

29-30 Jun 1798 the frigates Jason, Mermaid, and Pique capture the French 40-gun frigate Seine for the loss of the latter, bilged on a sandbank and burnt. The timely arrival of the frigates Pha�ton, San Fiorenzo, Triton was sufficient to deter French frigates from Rochelle.

Dec 1798 St Fiorenzo and Triton captured the French privateer Ros�e in the Channel.

Dec 1798 captured a Spanish privateer, name unknown, schooner, 6 guns, on the Channel station.

Dec 1798 a French privateer, Name unknown, captured by a prize of the St Fiorenzo, under the command of a midshipman, with 7 men.

27 Dec 1798 arrived Plymouth Dock.

1 Jan 1799 was honoured by being stationed off Weymouth, during his Majesty's summer residence at that place and who occasionally has made short marine excursions in her. 6 Oct 1798, the Royal Family and Nobility came on board from Weymouth, when Sir H. B. Neale, her commander, gave a grand public breakfast, in honour of Lord Nelson's victory. The San Fiorenzo, and Ships in the road, were all on this occasion decorated in the colours of different nations. Cruising.

10 Feb 1799 Plymouth, went down into Cawsand Bay.

19 Mar 1799 Plymouth Sound, the Naiad and San Fiorenzo arrived to land 103 French prisoners, being the crew of a French privateer taken on the 5th instant off the Loire, by the Naiad and San Fiorenzo.

9 Apr 1799 frigates San-Fiorenzo and Amelia in an inconclusive action with the French frigates Corn�lie, Vengeance, and S�millante.

16 Apr 1799 arrived Plymouth Sound with a French brig prize, from San Domingo bound to l�Orient with sugar and coffee : also captured a French brig in ballast on the same day, not yet arrived.

17 Oct 1799 arrived Spithead from Weymouth.

9 Nov 1799 departed Spithead the San Fiorenzo with the Anson, Severn, and Pigmy, on a cruise.

20 Nov 1799 departed Spithead with a convoy for Oporto.

22 Nov 1799 arrived off Plymouth Sound, at 2 P.M. and lay to, the San Fiorenzo, 44, full of signals for outward-bound vessels to make sail and join the Straits, West India, and Lisbon convoys, then off this port ; several vessels joined their respective convoys under care of the Queen Charlotte, Sans Pareil, Tisiphone, and Fairy, and proceeded down Channel with a fine wind blowing at E.

4 Jan 1800 Plymouth, arrived the David, from Oporto, with wines and fruit, in only seven days. She parted company last night, off the Edystone, with the San Fiorenzo, 44 guns, Capt. Reynolds, off this port, with 29 sail, all well.

5 Jan 1800 Plymouth, landed from the San Fiorenzo, 44 guns, the Master of the late Two Brothers, of and from this port to Newfoundland, with a cargo of biscuit for San John's. She was taken on her passage by a French privateer, of 34 guns, called the Mars of Bourdeaux, and burnt to the water's edge. The Master was put into a neutral vessel, and arrived at Oporto.

21 Jan 1800 a court martial was held on board the Gladiator, in Portsmouth harbour, on the Carpenter of the San Fiorenzo for drunkenness and neglect of duty. The charges being proven he was dismissed his ship.

4 Feb 1800 departed Spithead the San Fiorenzo, Venus, Topaze, and Endymion, with troops for Ireland.

22 Feb 1800 arrived Plymouth Sound the San Fiorenzo, from the Bay of Ballyshannon, having returned from convoying out the Oporto and Lisbon fleets.

27 Feb 1800 departed Plymouth Sound with the Urania, Stag, and Childers, on a cruise.

2 Mar 1800 arrived Spithead the San Fiorenzo, 44, Captain Sir H Neale.

21 Mar 1800 departed Spithead on a cruise.

1 May 1800 arrived Plymouth Sound from convoying the Lisbon fleet.

9 Jun 1800 went into dock at Plymouth to have her bottom examined.

4 Jul 1800 arrived Spithead from the Channel fleet, to refit.

29 Jul 1800 departed Spithead the Cambrian, 44, San Fiorenzo, 44, Syren, 32, and two cutters, to attend his Majesty at Weymouth.

9 Oct 1800 arrived Spithead from Weymouth, where she has been attending their Majesties.

29 Oct 1800 departed Spithead with the Cambrian, Active, and Harpy, on a cruise.

27 Nov 1800 Plymouth, arrived the Hebe, of Teignmouth, from Newfoundland, with oil and fish, parted from her convoy in a gale 9 Nov and was captured on 11th by French privateer Grand Decide, 18, and retaken on the 13th by San Fiorenzo, 44.

22 Dec 1800 arrived Plymouth from a ten weeks cruise in company with the Cambrian.

29 Dec 1800 departed Plymouth Sound with the Cambrian, for Portsmouth.

15 Feb 1801 got under way at Spithead with a view to taking the Lisbon and Mediterranean convoys down Channel, but the wind blowing too hard for the merchant vessels to raise their anchors, she brought up again, although by the next day I note that the convoy is noted as "waiting at St Helen's," so perhaps a bit more sheltered, being on the eastern side of the IoW.

17 Feb 1801 upon the turn of the tide this evening got underway with the Lapwing and convoy for Lisbon, Oporto, and the Mediterranean, reportedly stopping at Yarmouth and going out through the Needles tomorrow.

20 Feb 1801 reports have been received at Spithead from Portland that the Mediterranean &c. convoy had been detained in Portland Roads by contrary winds.

9 Mar 1801 arrived Torbay the San Fiorenzo, with a convoy outward bound transports for Gibraltar, Malta and Minorca, with troops on board to join Gen Sir Ralph Abercrombie ; left the Lisbon and Oporto ships in Portland Roads. Wind W.

15 Mar 1801 departed Torbay with her convoy.

16 Mar 1801 put into Plymouth Sound with her convoy due to contrary winds.

17 Mar 1801 arrived Plymouth Sound the outward bound Lisbon and Gibraltar fleet, 25 sail, under convoy of the San Fiorenzo, of 40 guns, and Santa Margaritta, of 36 guns. The wind took them aback off the Eddystone at S.W. squally, when they bore away for this port ; the frigates came to in the Sound, and the convoy ran into Catwater, which is now as high as Oresten, it is now a naval wood, there being nearly two hundred sail of all descriptions. Came in a Danish brig.

17 Mar 1801 blowing a gale : in company with the Santa Margaritta, arrived Plymouth Sound with a convoy for Lisbon and Gibraltar. The Catwater anchorage had so many vessels at anchor, nearly 200 sail taking shelter, that it was likened to a wood.

29 Mar 1801 a seaman, of the San Fiorenzo, lying in the Plymouth Sound, fell from the main-yard and broke his thigh in so complex a manner that he died of a locked jaw within a few hours after his arrival at the Royal Naval Hospital.

31 Mar 1801 departed Plymouth Sound with the Santa Margaretta, and an outward-bound convoy for Gibraltar and Malta, collecting vessels waiting along the coast at Falmouth to join this convoy.

16 Apr 1801 was in the Bay at Gibraltar and reported that four transports from her convoy were taken by Spanish gun boats in the Gut of Gibraltar.

6 Jul 1801 arrived in the Downs, from Gibraltar.

11 Jul 1801 departed the Solebay from the Downs with the San Fiorenzo, to Portsmouth.

13 Jul 1801 arrived Spithead from the Downs the San Fiorenzo, Capt Paterson.

23 Jul 1801 a Court Martial was held on board the Gladiator, in Portsmouth harbour, on Lt Thomas Renwick, of the San Fiorenzo, for quitting the deck when he had the first watch, on the night of the 20th of March, without being regularly relieved ; and on Mr. Rd Geo Peacock, Master of the same ship, for not coming upon deck when he had the middle watch, on the same night, until he was sent for about a quarter past one o'clock. The Court agreed that the charges had been proved against them ; but, in consideration of their very high character, they were adjudged to be only reprimanded.

9 Aug 1801 departed Spithead for off Havre.

10 Aug 1801 the Seahorse, Capt Foote, and San Fiorenzo, Capt Pattison, arrived off Havre, from Portsmouth.

12 Aug 1801 arrived Spithead the American ship Sophia, laden with mahogany, detained by the San Fiorenzo.

14 Aug 1801 arrived Spithead with the Seahorse, from a cruise off Havre.

17 Aug 1801 arrived Spithead the merchant vessels Elizabeth and Vennume, taken by the San Fiorenzo, when in company with the Seahorse, frigate, and Swift, cutter.

18 Aug 1801 departed Spithead with the Seahorse, to attend his Majesty at Weymouth.

[And whilst at Weymouth HM would usually sail across to Portland Roads from whence he would visit one or two of the local pubs.......not forgetting that the Island of Portland was, and still is, a Royal Manor, oh yes, and its not really an island, however King George declared it to be one, and who was going to argue in those days!]

3 Sep 1801 arrived Spithead from Weymouth.

7 Sep 1801 departed Spithead San Fiorenzo on a cruise off Havre.

4 Oct 1801 arrived Spithead, an American schooner, detained by the Fiorenzo.

9 Oct 1801 arrived at Spithead last evening the Egneyhutent, Bond, laden with tar, taken off Havre by the San Fiorenzo.

19 Oct 1801 arrived in the Downs, from the Westward.

11 Nov 1801 departed the Downs for Spithead.

12 Nov 1801 arrived Spithead the San Fiorenzo, from the Downs.

31 Dec 1801 departed Spithead to cruise off Havre.

17 Nov 1801 Admiral Sir A. Mitchell made the signal for unbending sails, which was followed by the fleet, therefore it is supposed the squadron which consists of the following ships will winter near Beerhaven, in Bantry Bay, viz. Windsor Castle, Temeraire, Barfleur, Princess Royal, Formidable, Atlas, Namur, Majestic, Resolution, Vengeance, Malta, of 84 guns, Centaur. The Glory, had put into Cork, and the Juste, had not joined. Provisions were plenty : a fat sheep nine shillings, Geese one shilling each, eggs two-pence per dozen, and fish and game to be had in great abundance.

2 Feb 1802 departed Spithead the St. Fiorenzo, 44, on a cruise off Weymouth after smugglers. It is reported that the smugglers have taken to using larger vessels, lately used as privateers until the peace, which are larger and better armed than the revenue cruisers, a large lugger having recently fired into 2 revenue cruisers, and hence the use of frigates and sloops, waiting to be paid off, to deal with the problem that has now arisen.

29 Mar 1802 arrived Spithead from a cruise after smugglers.

2 Apr 1802 departed Spithead for Torbay to join the Channel Fleet regarding the Court Martial detailed below.

10 Apr 1802 a Court Martial was held on board the Barfleur, in Torbay, on the Boatswain of the San Fiorenzo, for embezzling HM stores ; the charges being proved, he was sentenced to be dismissed HM service, and mulct of all his pay.

12 Apr 1802 a Court Martial was held on board the Barfleur, in Torbay, on W. Fenwick, First Lt of the San Fiorenzo, was tried for neglect of duty in permitting the said stores to be embezzled ; the charges being proved, he was sentenced to be dismissed HM ship, and to lose two years rank.

13 Apr 1802 a Court Martial was held on board the Barfleur, in Torbay, on C. W. Patterson, Esq. commander of the San Fiorenzo, was tried for neglect of duty, in permitting a boat to take on shore some stores belonging to his Majesty ; the charges were only in part proved, he was sentenced to be dismissed the San Fiorenzo, and mulct of two months pay.

14 Apr 1802 a Court Martial was held on board the Barfleur, in Torbay, on Lieut. Gilmore, and the Gunner of the San Fiorenzo were tried, the former for neglect of duty, and the latter for embezzlement ; the charges were proved against the Lt and he was dismissed the ship; the Gunner was acquitted.

14 Apr 1802 a Court Martial was held on board the Barfleur, in Torbay, on Mr. Mitchell, a Midshipman, also of the San Fiorenzo, was tried for neglect of duty, and being found guilty, was sentenced to lose one years rated time.

20 Apr 1802 came into Plymouth Sound, from Torbay.

Circa 24 Apr 1802 Captain Bingham apptd to the St. Fiorenzo.

22 May 1802 Captain Bingham arrived from town, and took the command of the St. Fiorenzo, 40, lying in the Sound.

25 May 1802 departed Plymouth Sound on a cruise.

26 May 1802 arrived Plymouth Sound and has now gone up into Hamoaze.

13 Aug 1802 departed Plymouth Sound for Weymouth, to attend on their Majesties, the San Fiorenzo, 40, Captain Bingham, having received a thorough repair.

3 Sep 1802 arrived Spithead from attending his Majesty at Weymouth.

28 Sep 1802 passed through the Downs from the Channel Isles to the Helder with Dutch troops returning to Holland following the Peace of Amiens.

14 Oct 1802 arrived in the Downs from the Texel and passed through for the Westward.

15 Oct 1802 arrived Spithead from the eastward.

23 Oct 1802 departed Spithead with sealed orders for a foreign station, destination unknown.

11 Nov 1802 arrived Gibraltar with dispatches and in distress having sprung a leak.

13 Nov 1802 having repaired her damage, will depart for the East when the wind permits.

24 Nov 1802 the wind still prevents the San Fiorenzo departing through the Gut.

29 Nov 1802 departed Gibraltar for the Mediterranean squadron, last sighted anchored off Sardinia.

13-14 Feb 1805 capture of the French 32-gun frigate Psych� and privateer Equivoque. The Psych� was purchased into the service.

4 Mar 1808 departed from Pointe de Galle, Ceylon, on her return to Bombay.

6-9 Mar 1808 following a long chase interrupted by two actions captured the French 40-gun frigate Pi�montaise. On the 9th the masts of the Pi�montaise fell over her side and in this state she was taken in tow by the San-Fiorenzo ; and on the 13th the two frigates anchored in the road of Columbo. The Pi�montaise was afterwards purchased for the British navy, and classed among the large 38s.

3 May 1811 arrived Spithead with a convoy from Lisbon.

5 May 1811 arrived Spithead from Lisbon (26 Apr).

10 Jun 1811 departed Spithead for Cork and thence to Portugal.
