1 Jan 1799 Capt. T. Palmer. At Sheerness.

3 May 1800 the unfortunate death was reported of Captain Palmer, of the Selby sloop of war, who shot himself in a fit of insanity; which circumstance, however deplorable, will tend, in the eyes of his friends, to lessen the calamity. This melancholy event took place at the Nore, on May the 3d, at half past seven o'clock in the morning.

27 Jun-8 Jul 1800 per the medals that were belatedly awarded in 1847 formed a part of the flotilla that was involved in the boarding and capturing of the French frigate D�sir�e, and attempt to burn other vessels at Dunkirk.

27 Mar 1801 the Selby recaptured a coal laden vessel, the Freedom, James Holden, master, previously taken by a French privateer.

16 Jun 1801 arrived Sheerness the hired ship Selby, Capt Williams. The Selby and Pelter have been appointed convoy for the Baltic, and have a signal flying for same at the Great Nore.

26 Jun 1801 departed Sheerness with a gun brig and upwards of 100 sail of merchant ships for the Baltic.

19 Jul 1801 arrived N. Yarmouth.

27 Jul 1801 has arrived Hull, to take the next convoy from the Humber to Hamburgh &c., which is expected to sail shortly.

7 Sep 1801 the sloop Selby and the Albion departed the Baltic for England with a convoy having previously had to put back due to contrary winds.

28 Sep 1801 is in the Humber, at Hull with a convoy for Hamburgh, Bremen and Embden, but the wind is unfavourable, and the convoy is unable to depart for the present.

14 Oct 1801 arrived Sheerness, from the Humber.

20 Oct 1801 it has been ordered that the Selby be paid off and sold.

30 Oct 1801 is due to pay off at Sheerness tomorrow. Wind SW, blows hard.

16 Nov 1801 remains at Sheerness, and it has been ordered that the Selby should be sold.

14 Dec 1801 the Selby, and Albicore sloops ; and the Bruiser, Plumper and Tigress gun brigs are reported to be up for sale.
