28 Jun 1797 Captured the Spanish Polacre Santa Grus de Guirto - LG 31 Oct 1797.

12 Feb -30 Mar 1799 captured a merchant vessel on the Jamaica station.

17 Sep 1799 Portsmouth, arrived with a convoy of about twenty sail of homeward-bound West India ships.

26 Mar 1800 arrived Falmouth with the Railleur and coasters from Ireland under their convoy.

30 Aug 1800 came into Plymouth Sound from a cruise.

21 Oct 1800 arrived Spithead with the Weazle, from the eastward.

3 Nov 1800 arrived Spithead from a cruise.

14 Nov 1800 Portsmouth a Court-Martial was held on board the Gladiator for the trial of William Ellis, who was taken as one of the crew onboard L'Eole French privateer, at her capture on the 27 June last, by the Dryad and sent to Spithead in the Serpent sloop, and who turned out to be a subject of this country, and had deserted from the Fame prison ship in December, 1798. The Court being of opinion that the charges had been proved against the prisoner, did therefore adjudge him to suffer Death, by being hanged on board such of his Majesty's ships at Spithead as the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty should direct. On the morning of the I7th the above unhappy man was executed on board the Puissant, at Spithead, pursuant, to his sentence.

29 Nov 1800 Portsmouth, this morning a Court-Martial was held on board the Gladiator, for the trial of Mr. William Matthew, gunner of the Serpent, for drunkenness. The charge being proved, the Court sentenced him to be publicly reprimanded on board the ship to which he belongs.

24 Jan 1801 departed Plymouth for the Westward.

29 Jan 1801 departed Plymouth Sound with Russell, on a cruise.

19 May 1801 arrived Spithead from a cruise.

4 Jun 1801 the Serpent made the signal that she had been appointed in command of the convoy for the West Indies.

14 Jun 1801 remains at Spithead.

15 Jun 1801 made a signal at Spithead for the Westward.

18 Jul 1801 the trial of Captain Roberts, of the Serpent sloop of war, commenced this day, on board the Gladiator at Portsmouth, charged with leaving his convoy. The Court not being able to hear all the evidence, necessarily adjourned until the 23d.
23 Jul 1801 the Court Martial on Captain ROBERTS, of his Majesty's ship Serpent, closed, when the sentence of the Court was, that the charge respecting the Cork convoy had been proved in part, which they conceived arose from an error in judgment, and did therefore adjudge him to be reprimanded for the same ; but that the charge of having delayed to put to sea with the trade from Belfast had not been proved, and did adjudge him to be acquitted thereof.

27 Jul 1801 departed Spithead for Cork.

19 Sep 1801 came into Plymouth Sound from Cork, the Serpent, Capt T Roberts, with invalid seamen.

22 Sep 1801 departed Plymouth Sound for Spithead.

25 Sep 1801 went into Portsmouth harbour.

Circa 4 Aug 1804 the Barfleur, Cumberland, Zealous, Success, Dido, and Serpent are being prepared at Portsmouth for being brought into commission.

20 April 1805 Convoy to West Indies.

28-29 Nov 1805 ship's boats capture the Spanish schooner garda-costa San-Christovel Pano.
