1876 problems with torpedoes whilst fitting out for service as Flag Ship on the Pacific Station.

14 Aug 1876 Commissioned at Portsmouth

1879 Cape of Good Hope and under orders to return to England. She only served one commission, during which she engaged the Peruvian monitor Huascar, and afterwards took part in the operations against the Zulus.

1890 Portsmouth.

Dec 1891 is having her machinery removed, preparatory to her being converted into a receiving hulk at Bermuda.

1904 Coal hulk Bermuda, from 1895.
