5 Dec 1797 Shannon and Diana captured the French privateer Mouche on the Irish station.

2 Feb 1798 captured the French privateer Duguay Trouin.

23 Jun 1798 captured the French privateer Julie.

Circa 26 Aug 1798 off Lough Swilly, Diana, Cerberus, and Shannon informed that three French frigates had landed troops at Killala in the county of Mayo and made all sail in pursuit of them - see p. 58-> www.naval-review.org/issues/1928-1.pdf.

30 Dec 1798 departed Plymouth for Cork.

1 Jan 1799 Capt. A. Fraser.

15 Jan 1799 captured the French privateer Grand Indien on the Irish station.

3 Mar 1799 Plymouth, arrived, having carried away her mizen mast whilst in chase of a French Corvette off Brest.

13 Aug-Oct 1799 employed on expedition to Holland.

20 Feb 1800 Plymouth, arrived from the coast of France with L'Impetueux.

2 Jun 1800 Plymouth, departed with the Neptune, Amelia, Amethyst, and Bourdelais, on a cruise.

21 Jul 1800 Plymouth, arrived from Quiberon.

26 Oct 1800 Sheerness, a Court Martial was held on board the Shannon, to try Alexander Brown, a seaman belonging to the Solebay, for desertion, and for running away with a prize belonging to that ship ; but the charges not being proved, he was acquitted.

26 Oct 1800 Sheerness, a Court Martial was held on board the Shannon, to try Lieutenant James Ryder, of the Zealand, for absenting himself from the ship without leave, when, the charge being proved, he was rendered incapable of serving in the Naval Service of His Majesty, his heirs and successors, for ever ; but the Court recommended him to some consideration of the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty.

26 Oct 1800 Sheerness, a Court Martial was held on board the Shannon, to try Alexander Brown, a seaman belonging to the Solebay, for desertion, and for running away with a prize belonging to that ship ; but the charges not being proved, he was acquitted.

20 Nov 1800 Sheerness a Court-Martial was held on board the Shannon to try Mr. Samuel Porter, Carpenter of the Madras, for drunkenness ; when the charge being proved, he was rendered incapable of ever serving again as an officer in his Majesty's Navy.

20 Nov 1800 Sheerness a Court-Martial was held on board the Shannon to try Richard Hall, a seaman belonging to the Zealand, for desertion ; when the charge being proved, the Court, in consideration of the good character given him by his officers, only adjudged him to receive 200 lashes.

15 Dec 1800 Yarmouth Roads, following depredations to shipping by a French privateer off Scarborough, the Shannon, Bittern, lugger Phoenix and cutter Drake were sent on a cruize in order to provide protection to the homeward-bound Baltic convoys.

22 Feb 1801 arrived Leith Roads, from the coast of Norway, where it is reported that the Shannon has cut out 3 British vessels recently captured by the French and carried in there.

23 Feb 1801 it is reported at Hull that the Shannon recently chased the privateer commanded by Citizen Blackman, who had been causing considerable problems on the NE Coast of England. When almost on top of him, the privateer ran his craft aground on a sandbank off Calais, where she broke up, and many of her prisoners nearly lost their lives.

12 Apr 1801 the fleet departed from Copenhagen into the Baltic.

8 May 1801 to cruise off Carlscrona.

3 Aug 1801 arrived N. Yarmouth from the Baltic.

9 Aug 1801 departed N. Yarmouth, the Shannon, frigate ; Phoenix, lugger ; and Ready, Safeguard, gun brigs, Veteran, 64 ; Driver, and Inspector, sloops ; and Speedwell, brig.

11 Aug 1801 arrived yesterday at Sheerness, the Shannon, Capt Pater.

27 Aug 1801 last night departed Sheerness, Capt Pater, on a cruise.

7 Sep 1801 arrived in the Downs from the Northward.

9 Sep 1801 the Overyssel, Magicienne, Amazon, Leyden, Alkmaar, York, Isis, Shannon, Gannet, Hound, Gier, and Autumn sloops ; Volcano, Vesuvius, Terror, Discovery, Zebra bombs ; Victoire, Nancy & Akers, fire ships ; the Locust, Plumper, Bold, Eclipse, Ferriter, Snipe, Minx, Jackall, and Mallard, gun vessels, apart from seven gun brigs who were about to depart that evening with the Eugenie and Diligence for the Coast of France ; remained in the Downs overnight.

12 Sep 1801 departed the Downs for the Northward.

2 Oct 1801 arrived N. Yarmouth with the Samuel Smith, laden with Indian goods, from Batavia, bound for Amsterdam, as a prize.

18 Oct 1801 departed N. Yarmouth on a cruise.

Circa Nov 1801 is reported to be at Cuxhaven, awaiting Lord Carysfort's arrival from Hamburgh, via the Prince of Wales packet.

12 Nov 1801 arrived N. Yarmouth with Lord Carysfort, Minister [Ambassador] at Berlin, onboard, and in company with the Prince of Wales packet.

22 Nov 1801 remains in N. Yarmouth Roads with the Blenheim and fleet. Wind NNW.

20 Dec 1801 remains in N. Yarmouth Roads with the Blenheim, Adm. Dickson, and his squadron.

17 Jan 1802 departed N. Yarmouth for Hull.

11 Feb 1802 arrived Yarmouth from Hull, where she'd been with stores for the Nonsuch.

11 Feb 1802 remains with the Blenheim, and the squadron, in Yarmouth Roads.

11 Mar 1802 remains with the Blenheim, &c., in Yarmouth Roads.

15 Mar 1802 arrived Sheerness, from Yarmouth.

31 Mar 1802 many of the vessels at Sheerness are to be sent to Chatham to be paid off.

15 Apr 1802 paid off at Sheerness and crew discharged to shore.

23 Jun 1802 newspapers of this date report that the Shannon, lately sold to Mr. Walters, when on her way to the Thames, got aground opposite Southend ; attempts were made to refloat the vessel, but proved ineffectual and she was therefore broken up where she lay, to very great disadvantage.

17 Nov-30 Dec 1802 prize money resulting from the expedition to Holland due for payment.
