1 Jan 1802 Prison ship.

10 Jan 1802 the Sultan prison ship, based in Portchester Lake : a seaman is supposed to have gone down the ship's side to make a boat fast, but failed to return to his mess, and was missing the following morning. A search being made, his body was found on a nearby mud flat, and was transported to the Royal Hospital to be interred, I would guess after the coroner had made his usual investigation. I was understood that he was due prize money shortly, and that he had friends in Newcastle who might benefit.

16 Sep 1803 a letter received from the squadron based off Cadiz, states that it consists of the Canopus, Conqueror, Sultan, Malta, ships of the line ; and Doris, frigate ; and Hind cutter, so I guess we are looking at a date of dispatch of about 3+ weeks prior to receipt ? The writer discusses his best guesses, plus galley rumours for the future plans for these vessels, but don't think it worth detailing.

Circa 13 Feb 1804 Mr Sayes apptd to be surgeon of the Sultan.

May 1805 Portsmouth ; Prison Ship.
