Notes:

May 1803 Lieut M. Ball apptd to the hired armed cutter Swift.

17 Aug 1803 the Swift, Lieut Cumby, has departed Sheerness flying a signal for a convoy for the R Elbe.

21 Jun 1803 Adm Thornborough hoisted his flag on board the Leda, and is understood to be departing for the Northward, perhaps, it is surmised, to stop the Dutch Greenland ships on their homeward passage. It was later reported that a number of hired armed cutters, including the Swift and Favourite, were sent after him, so hopefully we'll see how this story, whatever it might be, unfurls in the days or weeks to come ? if it ever sees the light of day ?
