Circa late May 1855 La Sybille's ship's company were reported to be quite seriously damaged by scurvy and the ship stopped at Aniwa Bay to land a 100 sick men, leaving her seriously undermanned.

3 Dec 1855 arrived Hongkong and is refitting.

4 Dec 1855 HIMS Sybille, Capt de Maisonneuve, arrived Hong Kong from Louchoo.

12 Dec 1855 the French frigate Virginie, flag of R.-Adm Guerin, was at Macao on the 12th Dec last. The Admiral was to sail in that frigate for the Philippines early January. The frigate Sibylle (sic), was undergoing repairs at Hongkong 6th Dec., and was then to join the R.-Adm at Manilla. The steam aviso Marceau departed Reunion 15 Nov for Pondicherry, en route for Manilla, (aviso = "small boats designed to carry orders or dispatches.") The French corvette expected Macao early Dec ; having visited Hokadadi 4th Dec., and the corvette Colbert departs for home towards the end of Dec.
