Towey, <-1799->
Type: Cutter ; Armament ?
Acquired : <-1799-> ;
Disposal date or year : <-1799->
Notes:
10 Feb 1799 Plymouth, Towey cutter, Lieutenant Danby, departed with a convoy for the Downs. This according to the Naval Chronicle, Vol. 1, p. 259. [I can't find any reference, in the usual places, to a vessel of this name until the 6th rate, launched 1814 : one wonders if it might have been one of those stray hired vessels ? Ed.]
