Notes:

22 Aug 1795 a British squadron cruising off the coast of Norway, the 50-gun Isis and frigates Reunion, Stag , and Vestal, Captain Charles White, chased a small Dutch squadron, during which the Stag captured the Dutch frigate Alliance, whilst her compatriots, the Argo, and the cutter, the Vlugheld, got safe into Egeroe. The Alliance was acquired by the RN.

10 Apr 1797 captured the French privateer Voltigeur in the North Sea.

13 Jun 1797 escaped the mutiny at the Nore, being fired on by the Monmouth - see p. 74 www.naval-review.org/issues/1929-1.pdf.

1 Jan 1799 Capt. C. White. At Sheerness.

25 Apr 1800 Torbay, departed, the Inflexible, Stately, Wassenaer, Alkmaar, Charon, Expedition, Hebe, Pallas, Romulus, Sensible, Niger, Resource, and Vestal, with troops ; the Commanders of which have sealed orders.

Apr-24 Jun 1800 blockade of Genoa and cutting out of the Prima galley.

8 Mar - 2 Sep 1801 Expedition to Egypt.

8 Mar 1801 of the personnel employed disembarking the army in Aboukir Bay 3 seaman were killed and one went missing.

circa 5 Jun 1801 captured 2 store-ships off Bengazi, a part of a swiftly departing French Squadron.

26 Mar 1802 the Naval Chronicle, Vol 7, p 357, reports that the remaining seven men belonging to the Temeraire, who were condemned by the first Court Martial, to be hanged for Mutiny, have been sent round to Woolwich in the Vestal, to be confined onboard the hulks there during His Majesty's pleasure.

6 Apr 1802 arrived in the Motherbank, the Vestal, armed en flute, Captain Collard, with troops on board from Egypt, and put under quarantine.

15 Apr 1802 departed Spithead to the Downs.

16 Apr 1802 departed the Downs for Sheerness to be paid off.

Circa 24 Sep 1803 the Unite, 40 ; Modeste, 38 ; Heroine, 32 ; Solebay, 32 ; Daedalus, 32 ; Quebec, 32 ; Iris, 32 ; Retribution, 32 ; Vestal, 28 ; Resource, 28, are to be jury rigged and to depart shortly for Long Reach, to take in their guns and power ; after which they'll drop down to the Lower Hope, to be moored across the River for the protection of the Thames. The manning of these vessels will be the responsibility of the Trinity Board.

May 1805 Nore.

13 Jun 1805 Vestal and the Sea Fencibles re-captured the merchant vessel Industry off Hastings. 12 Apr 1806 due to be delivered into the Registry of the High Court of Admiralty agreeable to Act of Parliament, so salvage monies due should be paid shortly.

18-23 Jul 1805 attacks on convoys off Calais - Vimereux - Ambleteuse.

5 Jun 1806 captured the French privateer Prospero in the Channel.

19 Nov 1809 captured the French privateer Intrepide.

Portsmouth 15 Jan 1810 Has sent in the Fortitude, from Lisbon, with cotton and hides, having been re-taken from a French privateer.

Portsmouth 1 Jan 1812 Remains wind-bound in Cowes Roads.

1814 Barbados Prison ship.
