Dec 1891, the Screw steam yacht Capercailzie has been purchased from Sir John Burns, and will be renamed to replace the Vivid as official yacht of the Commander-in-Chief, Plymouth. She was built by Messrs. Barclay, Curl, and Co., of Glasgow, in 1883. She is 200 ft. in length, 24ft. beam, and draws 12ft. of water.
