Secretary for 50 Years.
(An Appreciation.)
Mr. A. W. PYLE heads the list of Officers in years of service, having been appointed one of the Secretaries of the Choir at its formation and has continued in office ever since. The fact that the Choir has existed for half a century and has during that time never once missed doing Temperance service on Saturday Nights is unique, and is largely due to the tact, enthusiasm, and organising abilities of Mr. Pyle. The love and respect which the members have for their Secretary was manifested at the Annual Meeting of the Choir in 1929, when they unanimously, and with musical honours, appointed him Hon. Secretary for the 50th time in succession. He has thus completed his jubilee as Choir Secretary, a truly unique and worthy record.
Mr. A. W. PYLE.
Mr. Pyle is actively associated with Wood Street Congregational Church, of which he is a Life Deacon ; he was for many years Church Secretary. He is a Trustee of Cory Hall Trust ; and for many years has been a member of the Band of Hope Union Executive. He is Vice-President of the National Temperance Choral Union.
Mr. Pyle had the honour of being presented to their Majesties the King and Queen on board the Royal Yacht in 1912.
Mr. RONALD CHIVERS, Conductor,
Appointed 1927.
Madam R. CHIVERS, Accompanist,
