This vessel arrived in Algoa Bay on the 25th ult., 114 days from London. After parting two chains, she drove ashore on the rocks near the site of the Old Jetty. Six of the crew, and one female passenger were landed during the night by means of a cradle and warp from the shore to the vessel. The remaining five continued on board till the morning. She endeavoured, with jibs set, to reach the sandy beach, between the town and the Swartkops ; not having steerage-way, however, she was run ashore, head on, at the place where the Charlotte lately struck.

Letters from the sub-collector of Customs, Resident Magistrate, and Harbour-Master, relative to the wreck, are lying at the Commercial Exchange. The Resident-Magistrate states "The cables must have been very bad, nor was there a third anchor on board, as required by the regulations. Information has also been lodged with me, of some misconduct on board, into which I will make judicial enquiry. The detachment of the 12th foot, under Ensign Travers, rendered much assistance in the management of the warp. Two thirds of the cargo, valued at from �15 to �20.000, is damaged and the vessel must, in all probability. be abandoned " -
