Wreck Of The Pilot

A small schooner, of 3l tons burthen, belonging to Newcastle, and bound for Sydney, was totally wrecked on Wednesday se'nnight, on Nobby's, but luckily no hands were lost. It appears that she was beating out against a north-east wind, in company with the Scud, and when outside Nobby's, owing to the heavy swell, she refused stays and drifted tail on to the reef. The Scud bore down to her assistance and cast anchor, when after some time had elapsed the crew of the former having taken to their boats went on board her. The Pilot struck on a rock a short distance from the main land, and having forged over it went down, in deep water. The sails, rigging, &c., were recovered, and the hull had been risen by means of empty casks, and has been towed inside Nobby's, into deep water.
