The Navy.- A return has just been printed of the number of persons flogged in the year 1847, specifying the name of the ship, the offence, the sentence, and number of lashes inflicted.

It appears that returns have been received from 254 ships in her Majesty's service, and on board 78 of that number no persons have been flogged within the last twelve months.

The total number of punishments inflicted on board the other ships were 860 ; total number of lashes, 26,288. The highest number inflicted was 48, and the lowest 6.
