Blue Jacket, of 1752 tons register, is shortly expected here from Boston. She is not the vessel of the same name advertised as one of Messrs. Pilkington and Wilson's White Star Australian Packets, though worthy, according to accounts, to rank with the finest vessels belonging to this port. The Blue Jacket has been built by Mr. R. E. Jackson, of East Boston, and is commanded by Captain Oliver Eldridge.

She is constructed of the best materials, and is of the following dimensions : Length on the keel 205 feet over all 235 feet ; extreme beam 41 feet 2 inches ; depth of hold 24 feet, including 8 feet between decks. She has a poop deck 80 feet long and 7 feet high. The chief saloon is 40 feet long by 14 wide, is beautifully wainscoated and ornamented with gilded flower-work and branches on the panels, set off with papier mache cornices ; and its groundwork is pure white, equalling enamel in its smoothness and brilliancy. The hull, spars, and rigging, are finished with that degree of taste for which the American clippers are so famous ; and, from her fine model, high hopes are entertained that her sailing qualities will fully equal her other points of excellence.- Liverpool Standard, October 11, 1854
