Shipping Gazette and Sydney General Trade List

The competition between the steamers in the Hunter River trade is at an end, the proprietors having come to an arrangement among themselves. The freights remain as heretofore, but the passage money (cabin) from Sydney to Morpeth has been increased to fifteen shillings. We believe the Phoenix will shortly be laid on the Clarence River trade, and that during the press of the season the Sovereign will make a few trips to Moreton Bay in aid of the Tamar. A steamer will in future leave Sydney every night and Morpeth every morning.
