Captain Marryat's Code of Signals having been ordered to be used at the Signal Station on Mount Victoria, at the entrance to the harbour of Auckland, from the 1st of November, it is hoped all Commanders of vessels making for Auckland will communicate with the same on sighting the station. The flag-staff is erected on Mount Victoria, a conical hill, rising to the height of 279 feet, on a peninsula, at the northern head of the harbour. It is particularly requested that commanders will keep the number, in indicating the vessel's name and her port of departure, flying until they are acknowledged from the station.
