Providence (US) Tribune states that after long continued experiments Mr. Dalroll, of Connecticut, has succeeded in constructing a mechanical fog trumpet for light houses or ships, which upon being connected with the clock machinery may be blown at regular intervals, so loudly that in favourable weather the sound may be heard at the distance of eight or ten miles. The trumpet is made of brass, about four feet long, with a mouth-piece like that of an organ-pipe, and is said to be far preferable in every respect to the fog bell.
