2 Denny : Valkyrie, Valorous : 1325 tons.

1 White: Vampire: 1316 tons.

  • Dimensions: 300 (p.p.), 312 (o.a.) x 29.5 x 9 feet (mean), 11.25 (max.) draught.
  • Guns: 4 - 4 inch (Mk. V. DIR. CON.), 1 - 3 inch A.A.
    Tubes: 4 - 21 inch in pairs, but Vampire only has 6 - 21 inch in two triples.
  • Machinery: Turbines all geared-type. Valentine and Valhalla Parsons, others Brown-Curtis.
    Designed S.H.P. 27,000 = 34 kts. 2 screws.
    Boilers: Yarrow, except Vampire with White-Forster.
    Oil: about 370/320 tons.
  • Complement, 115.

General Notes: Emergency War Programme boats. Are exactly the same as the Admiralty V Destroyers, but specially fitted as Leaders. No War Losses.

To distinguish: From Admiralty and Thornycroft V's: high foremast, bridges rather larger, more boats carried abeam of 2nd funnel; searchlight platform between tubes extended to take standard compass. After mast stands against after superstructure.
