| Article I |
| NO person is to be rated as Rope-maker who is not appointed by a Warrant from the Commissioners of the Navy.

| Article II |
| The Rope-maker shall be under the immediate direction of the Boatswain, from whom he is to receive whatever quantity of junk and rope-yarns may be necessary for making such rope as shall be required ; he is to be very careful that the whole of the quantity delivered to him be applied, without waste, to the use for which it is issued.

| Article III |
| When directed to make rope of any description, he is to be very careful in using such rope-yarns only as shall be fit for the purpose for which that rope may be intended, reserving always the worst yarns for those purposes, where little strength will be required.

| Article IV |
| If any of the Ship's company he directed to assist him, either in the making of rope, or spinning of spun-yarn, he is to deliver to them a sufficient quantity of rope-yarns, and he is to require from them the quantity of Spun-yarn or rope, which that quantity of yarns ought to make. He is to deliver to the Boatswain every rope and every ball of spun-yarn, as soon as it is completed ; and he is every evening to make a report to the Master of all the spunyarn and rope made in the day. |

| Article V |
| Before he shall be allowed to receive his wages, he will be required to produce a certificate signed by the Captain of his sobriety, obedience, and attention to duty. |
