Article II
The Captain of a Ship carrying an Admiral's flag shall be paid as the Captain of a first rate ; the Captain of a Ship carrying a Vice-Admiral's flag, as the Captain of a second rate ; and the Captain of a Ship carrying a Rear-Admiral's flag, or a Commodore's pendant, as the Captain of a third rate ; but if either of the two latter command a Ship of higher rate than is here mentioned, he shall be paid for the rate of the Ship he commands. How a Captain of a Ship bearing a flag shall be paid.
Article III
To enable a Captain to receive pay for a Ship of a higher rate than that which he commands, the Flag Officer or Commodore under whom be shall serve is to give him a certificate of the time his Flag. or broad pendant is hoisted on board the Ship he commands. Flag Officer is to give a Certificate of the time his Flag has been hoisted.
Article IV
Flag Officers, in addition to their pay, shall continue to receive as a compensation for servants formerly allowed, them. Compensation to flag Officers for Servants.

To enable a Secretary to receive his pay, it will be necessary that he produce a certificate from the Flag Officer he may serve, of the time he was employed, and of his diligence, sobriety, and good conduct. Secretary to produce a certificate from his Flag Officer.

Article VIII
The pay of all other Officers, and of all others of the Ship's company, and the numbers of each class allowed to Ships of every rate, shall be as expressed in the table preceding the Appendix. Pay of Officers and Ship�s Company

Article IX
The pay of a Flag Officer shall commence with the date of the order to hoist his flag, and terminate when it is struck by order from the Admiralty. When the pay of a Flag Officer shall commence and cease.
Article X
The pay of a Captain shall commence with the date of the Commission appointing him to command a Ship; unless he be appointed to succeed a Captain actually serving on board, who shall receive the pay until relieved by his successor; or unless there appear to be unnecessary delay in his repairing to the Ship, in which case the Admiralty will direct that his pay shall commence when he appears on board. Pay of a Captain to commence with the date of his Commission.

Exception.

Article XI
The pay of a Lieutenant shall be subject to the same regulations as the pay of a Captain. Pay of a Lieutenant under the same regulations as that of a Captain.
Article XII
The pay of a warrant Officer shall commence at the time of his appearing on board the Ship to which he shall be appointed. Pay of a Warrant Officer to commence when he appears on board.

Article XIII
When an Officer entitled to half pay shall be removed from a Ship, without being appointed to another, he is to apply to the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, in order that he may be put on the list of Officers who are to receive half pay. And he is to inform the Secretary of the Admiralty of the place in which he intends to reside, that he may be immediately found whenever it shall be thought proper to call him again into service. Officers entitled to half-pay to make application to the Admiralty.
Article XIV
An Officer appointed to act in the place of another Officer, absent for the recovery of his health, or with leave from the Admiralty, or the Commander in Chief, shall not, without directions from the Admiralty, receive the pay of the station in which he acts, until he shall have been in it six weeks, when the pay of the absent Officer shall cease, until he return and resumes his station in the Ship. Acting Officer not to receive pay until he has acted six weeks.
Article XV
A Lieutenant succeeding to the command of a Ship by the death of the Captain ; and any Officer properly qualified, who shall be appointed on any foreign station by the senior Officer present to act in any station vacant by the death of the Officer who held it, shall receive the pay of that station until another Officer shall supersede him. Acting Officers on Foreign stations to receive pay until superseded.

Article XVI
The pay of an Officer, who quits the Ship he belongs to on any Foreign station, shall cease on the day he quits her, whether it be on account of sickness, or on any other account; and he will not be allowed to receive half pay, until the time of his informing the Secretary of the Admiralty of his arrival in England, unless the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty shall be satisfied that the removing from the station on which he was employed was absolutely necessary for the recovery of his health, in which case he will receive his half pay from the day that his full pay ceased. Pay of an Officer to cease the day he quits her ; Half-pay to commence on his informing the Admiralty of his arrival in England.
Article XVII
The Commissions of all Flag Officers, Captains, Commanders, and all other Officers appointed to command any of His Majesty�s Ships or Vessels, are to be entered at the Navy Office, as soon as may be after they are received; as such Officers cannot receive their pay until their Commissions have been so entered. All Commissions to be entered at the Navy Office.
