Article I
BY act of parliament the following documents are to be produced to the Commissioners of the Navy, before payment of head money can be made on any Ship of war or Privateer, belonging to the enemy, that maybe captured or destroyed.

1st. An authentic copy of the Sentence of Condemnation (under the Seal of the Court) wherein she must appear to be a Ship of war or Privateer. This document, unless the enemy's Ship shall have been sunk, burnt, or otherwise destroyed will in no case be dispensed with.

2nd. A certificate of the number of men (not including passengers) living on board her at the beginning of the engagement

to be granted by the Mayor, or other chief Magistrate of the first Port within His Majesty's dominions to which the Prize is carried, or from the Consul, or vice Consul, if first carried to a Neutral to a Port. But if not, from the Mayor or Chief Magistrate of the first Port, then from the Mayor or Chief Magistrate of any other Port ; proof being first made upon oath, before such Mayor or chief Magistrate, of the inability of obtaining the same at the first Port: and this certificate is to be founded upon the oaths of three or more of the Chief Officers or men taken in her.

If it shall not be practicable to procure the Certificate or Affidavit precisely in the manner above pointed out, the circumstances which prevent it are to be particularly specified in the Voucher that may be produced, and without the most satisfactory reasons they will nut be dispensed with in any respect.

3rd. A Letter of Attorney from the Captain, Officers and Company (or from a majority of them) of the Captor Ship appointing an Agent or Agents to claim and recover the Head Money.

4th. A list of the Captors Ship�s Company on board at the time of the capture, attested by the Captain and Officers.    -   
5th. If the enemy�s Ship is burnt, or otherwise destroyed, the above vouchers are to be produced without the condemnation.    -
