Ship's Company and Marines.
Part I.- Ratings, Wages and Allowances |

For Special rates of pay to Natives entered on Foreign Stations to fill Naval Ratings, see 1433.
N.B.-
- The minimum age for entry in a Man's rating is 18 years.
- No man is to be entered as a first entry Continuous Service Stoker, or for Special Service (Seaman or Stoker) over the age of 25 years; other first entries for Continuous Service. must not exceed 28 years.
- The age for compulsory discharge to pension is laid down in Arts. 1942, and 1946, clause 5.
If any of the ratings that were ordered to die out are still borne, their rates of pay and allowances are to remain as laid down in former Regulations and Addenda thereto.
Advancements to acting substantive ratings are not to be made in vacancies of a temporary nature, or such as will be filled ultimately by men appointed from the Home Ports or from other Ships. See 1432 (Mesa doing Duty in Higher Rating).

In column 1,
Ratings in italics are not to assume Military Command.
C.S. denotes that Continuous Service is obligatory in the ratings so marked.
� denotes that Continuous Service is not allowed in those ratings. In all other ratings it is optional.
Numbers in brackets [ ] refer to ratings of the same branch in the Service.
(O.S.) denotes a rating ordered to die out after 1st October 1907.
(N.S.) denotes a new rating established on 1st October 1907.
In column 2,
* denotes the Non-C.S. rate of pay.
E.P. denotes that Extension pay at the rate of 6d. a day can be obtained under Art. 1435,

B. denotes eligibility for Good Conduct Badges.
M. denotes eligibility for Good Conduct Medal.
M.G. denotes eligibility for Good Conduct Medal and Gratuity.
M.G.� denotes that a Non-C.S. rating entered after 31st December 1884 is not eligible for the award of a Good Conduct Gratuity.
Legend for Column 4, [which, in the original, is printed on the opposite page to the table, and has therefore been placed under each table for each rating to hopefully make it more readable, in preference to having an extra column on the table which will run off the screen for most browsers ? RATINGS WAGES AND ALLOWANCES.
C.C. denotes that the rating is classed for conduct whenever a Good Conduct Badge is not worn.
W.S.A. denotes eligibility for Working Suit Allowance under Art. 1441.
The number opposite each rating indicates the number of Prize Shares to which such rating is entitled under Prize Proclamation.
In column 4,
Every instruction is to be read and carried out in conjunction with its proper heading only, as indicated by its letter of reference.
