  5. A Colour Sergeant, Sergeant, Corporal or Bombardier may be reduced to any lower rank in his own branch of the Corps. A Gunner. Private, or Bugler cannot be reduced for punishment.
  6. Non-commissioned Officers may have badges conferred on them, but they are not to wear their badges. Marines doing duty as Ward Room or Marine Officers' Servants are not entitled to W.S.A., but, if at any time required to assist in coaling, they are to be paid extra pay under Art. 1469. Recruits, volunteers for the Artillery who have passed a short elementary course of Naval Gunnery with a qualification of not less than "Good" are to be transferred to the R.M. Artillery as Gunners, 2nd Class. Recruits who cannot pass "Good" are to revert to the Light Infantry. On completion of the sea-service course with a rating of "Good," Gunners 2nd Class, are to be advanced to 1st Class, with full pay of Gunner; but men not rated as " Good "are not to be advanced nor to receive full pay until so rated

    5. A Bandmaster, 1st or 2nd Class, or Band Corporal, may be reduced to any lower rank in his own branch of the Corps. A Musician cannot be reduced for punishment.
