Establishment of the Ordnance Artificer Branch.
Status and Pay of Armourer Ratings
|
1920 10 19
And whereas by Your Majesty's Order in Council of the 22nd January, 1920, a new Branch entitled the Ordnance Artificer Branch was established, and the ranks of the Branch were instituted with pay, retired pay, and pensions as for officers of similar classes in the Mechanical Branches of Warrant Officers:
And whereas we consider that the status, pay, and conditions of service of the ratings of the Ordnance Artificer Branch should be generally as for the corresponding ratings of the Engine Room Artificer Branch; and further that Seamen and Marines qualified in Ordnance work should receive additional pay:
And whereas we consider it desirable that the pay of Armourer ratings not eligible to transfer to this new Branch should be improved:
We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased, by Your Order in Council, to sanction the proposals contained in the attached two Schedules, the arrangements shown therein to come into force from the dates specified, power being reserved to us to vary the rates of pay shown with the Scales laid down, or to associate payment with such conditions as may be deemed necessary:
The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in these proposals.
