Director of Greenwich Hospital - Salary
At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the fifth day of July, 1907.
Present, The Kings Most Excellent Majesty In Council.
Whereas there was this day read at the Board a Memorial from the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, dated the nineteenth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and seven, in the words following, viz.:
Whereas by the twentieth section of an Act passed in the twenty-ninth year of Her late Majesty's reign, chapter eighty-nine, entitled the Greenwich Hospital Act, 1865, it is, amongst other things, enacted that the Admiralty shall from time to time continue to appoint such officers, clerks, and servants, for the purposes of the Hospital and Schools as seem fit, and may (subject to the approval of Your Majesty in Council), fix the salaries of such officers and clerks.
And whereas by an Order in Council of Her late Majesty bearing date the sixteenth of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six, it was directed that the salary attached to the appointment of Director of Greenwich Hospital should be one thousand pounds per annum.
And whereas we are of opinion that this salary should now he revised.
We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to authorize the scale of salary of the Director of Greenwich Hospital to be at the rate and on the scale of one thousand pounds to one thousand two hundred pounds a year, rising by fifty pounds a year, as from the twenty-seventh May, one thousand nine hundred and seven, and to authorize an immediate increment of fifty pounds to the present holder of the appointment as from that date.
His Majesty having taken the said Memorial into consideration, was pleased, by and with the advice of His Privy Council, etc.

Receiver and Agent for the Greenwich Estate - Salary
Whereas there was this day read at the Board a Memorial from the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, dated the 17 August, 1910, in the words following, viz.:-
Whereas by the twentieth Section of an Act passed in the twenty-ninth year of the reign of Her late Majesty Queen Victoria, chapter eighty-nine, entitled "The Greenwich Hospital Act, 1865," it is, amongst other things, enacted that the Admiralty shall from time to time continue or appoint such Officers, Clerks, and Servants, for the purposes of the Hospital and Schools as seem fit, and may (subject to the approval of Your Majesty in Council) fix the salaries of such Officers and Clerks :
And whereas by an Order in Council of His late Majesty of 28 July, 1906, it was directed that the salary attached to the appointment of Receiver and Agent for the Greenwich Estate should not exceed three hundred pounds per annum, with residence :
And whereas we are of opinion that this salary should now be revised :
We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to authorize, as from the eighth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and ten, the following maximum limits for the salary of the Receiver and Agent for the Greenwich Estate:-

When the appointment is held by an Officer whose civil emoluments are subject to a deduction of ten per centum by the Rules under Section six of the Superannuation Act of 1887. |

Honorary Lieutenant Joseph Reed, R.N. - Chief Officer
At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 28th day of June, 1917.
Present, The King's Most Excellent Majesty in Council.
Whereas there was this day read at the Board a Memorial from the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, dated the 13th day of June, 1917. in the words following, viz. :
Whereas by Section 20 of the Greenwich Hospital Act, 1865, it is enacted, inter alia, that the Admiralty may (subject to the approval of Your Majesty in Council) fix the salaries of Officers appointed for the service of Greenwich Hospital:
And whereas by Section 8 of the Greenwich Hospital Act, 1872, it is further enacted that the provisions of Section 20 of the Greenwich Hospital Act, 1865, so far as the same relate to salaries, shall extend to pensions and pecuniary benefits of any kind
And whereas Honorary Lieutenant Joseph Reed, R.N., performed the duties of Chief Officer of the Royal Hospital School, Greenwich, for nearly 19 years, and resigned his appointment on the 7th April, 1917, owing to failing health
And whereas this appointment does not confer any claim to a pension or gratuity
Wee beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased, by Your Order in Council, to sanction the payment to Lieutenant Reed of a gratuity off �100 from the funds of Greenwich Hospital in recognition of his meritorious service under that Department.
His Majesty, having taken the said Memorial into consideration, was pleased, by and with the advice of His Privy Council, to approve of what is therein proposed. And the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty are to give the necessary directions herein accordingly.

Greenwich Hospital Schools - Increased Funding
At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 25th June, 1919.
Present, The King's Most Excellent Majesty in Council.
Whereas, there was this day read at the Board a Memorial from the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, dated the 27th May, 1919, in the words following, viz.:
Whereas, by the Greenwich Hospital Act, 1883, it is enacted, inter alia, that the Admiralty may out of the funds of Greenwich Hospital provide for the education and maintenance of sons of deceased or incapacitated warrant officers, non-commissioned officers, petty officers and men of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines, under Regulations to be approved by Your Majesty in Council:
And whereas by Order in Council dated the 12th December, 1883, Regulations were sanctioned for the education and maintenance of boys as aforesaid in orphanages, schools, or other institutions, subject to the expenditure in any one year being limited to �4,000:
And whereas the sum of �4,000 a year is now found to be inadequate to meet all deserving applications:
We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased, by Your Order in Council, to sanction the removal of this limit.
His Majesty, having taken the said Memorial into consideration, was pleased, by and with the advice of His Privy Council, to approve of what is therein proposed.
And the Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty are to give the necessary directions herein accordingly.
