Young Officers - Allowances on being Invalided from the Service (R.N. & R.M.)

1923 06 01
And whereas in the Regulations for the retirement of Officers of Your Majesty's Naval or Marine Force, which have been established by Order in Council from time to time, provision is made for the grant of retired pay at certain rates to Sub-Lieutenants and Paymaster Sub-Lieutenants of Your Majesty's Navy and Lieutenants with less than four years' commissioned service and Second Lieutenants of the Royal Marines if invalided from Your Majesty's Service under certain conditions:

And whereas we consider it desirable that the retiring allowances payable to Officers of these ranks if invalided and the conditions under which such allowances may be granted should be revised, and that corresponding provision should be made for Acting Sub-Lieutenants, Midshipmen, Acting-Paymaster Sub-Lieutenants and Paymaster Midshipmen of Your Majesty's Navy and Probationary Second Lieutenants of the Royal Marines if discharged for physical unfitness not attributable to service:

We beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased, by Your Order in Council, to sanction the proposals set forth in the annexed Schedule with effect from the first day of October, 1921.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence therein.
