Supplementary Distribution.

It has been decided to make a Supplementary distribution of Naval Prize Money, to begin on Wednesday, the 8th instant. No applications should be made earlier. The full value of one share in the supplementary distribution earned by thirty months' qualifying service is ten shillings, with a minimum allocation of five shillings, and the arrangements for the payment of those entitled to participate who are not now serving are as under:

2. Applications are first invited in respect of those whose surnames begin with the letters A, E, L and S, and should be made in accordance with the instructions in paragraph 4. Public notice will be given in the Press as it becomes possible to deal with further groups, and no action can be taken on applications made out of order.

3. The qualifications for participation are the same as for the first distribution, and only those entitled to share in the previous distributions should apply.

4. Payment to the Imperial Naval Forces will be made in the following manner:

  1. To Warrant Officers and men of the Royal Naval Reserve resident in Great Britain or the Northern Government Area, Ireland, through Registrars, R.N.R., from whom they will receive notifications of the sums due without application. Should they not receive such notification within a month of the appearance of the Admiralty notices relating to their particular cases (see paragraph 2); they should then make application, either in person or by letter to the Registrar, R.N.R. (Superintendent of Mercantile Marine Office), nearest to their place of residence.
  2. (Men who. have changed the address given on their Protection and Identity Certificate or on final discharge from the Naval Reserve, should - if they have not already done so - at once notify the change to the nearest Registrar, R.N.R., or, if more convenient, direct to the Registrar-General of Shipping and Seamen, Tower Hill, London, E.1, quoting the number and letter of their Certificate R.V.2).

  3. To all other Officers, and to men of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Naval Air Service, Royal Naval Reserve except as provided in (a), Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve and Mercantile Marine serving under Naval Engagements, by the Accountant General of the Navy, Prize Branch, Cornwall House, Stamford Street, London, S.E. 1.
  4. Applications for which no official forms are required, should be made as follows:

    Officers: By letter, signed by claimant and accompanied by a Certificate of Service or Appointment or other evidence of Identity.

    Men: By letter, signed by claimant, stating the address of nearest. Money Order Office, and in all Royal Navy, Royal Marine, Royal Naval Air Service and Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve cases, enclosing Service Certificate, and when notation of previous payments was made on any other Certificate, that one as well in Mercantile Marine cases the Continuous Discharge Certificate, or war period extract therefrom, certified at a Mercantile Marine Office with impressed Stamp of Office, must be forwarded with the application, and in Royal Naval Reserve cases the R.N.R. Certificate of Discharge (R.V.8 or variants), or Protection and Identity Certificate or Certificate R.V.2, if in the possession of the applicant.

  5. To representatives of all Officers and men deceased, by the Accountant-General of the Navy, to whom applications should be made by letter signed by the actual claimant, addressed as shown in (b) above.

5. In all cases in which by reason of an adjustment having been necessary, the supplementary payment is not strictly proportionate to the previous ones, an explanation will be given for the information of. the claimant, but while the distribution is in progress it will not be possible to undertake correspondence without delaying payments and holding up the return of Service Certificates, etc., and the acceptance of the amounts remitted will not prejudice a further adjustment later if required.

6. No assignments of Prize Money can be recognised.

7. Payment to those still serving (including Officers on Half Pay and Royal Air Force, late Royal Naval Air Service) will be made later through the Ships or Depots, etc., in which they are borne, except that Officers on Half Pay will be paid by the Accountant-General of the Navy. No applications should be made pending the issue of specific directions in Fleet Orders on the subject.

8. Payment to ex-Ranks and ratings of the Royal Indian Marine and the Naval Forces of the Dominions will be made by the Indian and respective Dominion Authorities, and application should be made to the Government of India or to the High Commissioner of the Dominion concerned, except that:

  1. Officers Royal Indian Marine who were granted Imperial Commissions will be paid by the Accountant-General of the Navy.
  2. Payments to members. of the South African Division, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, will be, authorised by the Accountant-General of the Navy through the R.N. Depot, Simonstown.

9. All applications to the Prize Branch must be in writing, personal applications cannot be accepted.
