Seaman Gunners - Returns of Numbers Borne.


Circular No. 388.

Admiralty, 3rd October, 1859.

My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty, being desirous of knowing the number of men borne on board Her Majesty's Ships who may be qualified as 1st and 2nd Class Seamen Gunners, distinguishing those still employed as Seamen Gunners from such as may have declined to continue to serve in that capacity, are pleased to direct that this information may be inserted in Red Ink, after Pensioners, in the Monthly Returns of the Numbers of Men borne, in Form No. 101, established by Circular No. 301, thus:-

Seamen Gunners included above. First Class, No.
Second Class, No.
Men qualified as Seamen Gunners, but not now so employed included, above. First Class, No.
Second Class, No.

The numbers of each Class are also to be inserted in the several columns for Ship's Complement and Supernumeraries, and for Continuous Service, and Non-Continuous Service.
