9 Jul 1864 Whereas we are of opinion that it would be for the advantage of Your Majesty's Service that a superior class of officers of Your Majesty's Fleet should be created from the List of Warrant Officers, and that they should be Commissioned Officers; we do therefore most humbly submit that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased to direct that such new class be established, that they be denominated� Chief Gunners, Chief Boatswains, Chief Carpenters, and that they rank with, but after, Sub-Lieutenants of the Royal Navy, and with, but after, Lieutenants in the Army. ^ back to top ^ |
