NOTE (a) -Naval Schoolmasters entered for Continuous Service under the
Regulations established by the Order in Council of February 26 1867, are not entitled to these additional payments, except the allowance for training Pupil Teachers, which is to be paid only o the Head Masters of Training Ships, who receive also �30 a year in addition Circular, No 24 N, May 27,1867 |
NOTE (b)-In ships where no Naval Schoolmaster in borne, and where the
number of Men and Boys to be instructed is not on an average less than ten, the person performing that duty is entitled to the Pay of the Old Rating of Seamen's Schoolmaster (2s 2d a day), but not to the Annual Gratuity; or if a Petty Officer to �5 a year, in addition to the pay of his proper Rating at his option ; provided his Commanding Officer shall certify that he has performed the duty by his authority, and to his satisfaction, without neglecting any other duty appertaining to his Rating in the Ship |
