Conditional Transfer of 10 Engineer Officers, Employed for Temporary Service, to the Permanent List

Whereas Your Majesty was graciously pleased by Your Order in Council of the 20th day of April, 1880, to sanction regulations as to the pay, pensions, and gratuities of certain Engineers and Assistant Engineers formerly serving in the Mercantile Marine whom it was found necessary to employ for temporary service in Your Majesty's Fleet :
And whereas we are of opinion that it is now advisable to comply with the expressed wish of the 10 officers who are still serving in Your Majesty's Fleet under those regulations to be transferred to the permanent list of Your Majesty's Fleet :
We beg leave, therefore, humbly to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously pleased, by Your Order in Council, to sanction the transfer of these Officers to the permanent list from the 29th July, 1893, on the following conditions : -
I. Seniority as Engineer on permanent list to be six years after seniority as Engineer for temporary service, and to be eligible after confirmation in the rank of Engineer, Royal Navy, for promotion to the rank of Chief Engineer if they possess the necessary qualifications and pass the required examination.
II. Full, half, and retired pay to be based on time served subsequent to the dates of their seniorities on the permanent list of the Navy as fixed by the preceding clause.
III. Age for retirement to be : -
