Period for which Engineer Officers may be Borne on Full Pay while Closing Their Accounts on Supercession.

Admiralty Order in Council No. 52

18 July, 1894,

A.G.

Whereas by Article 1428, Clause 4, of Your Majestys Regulations for the government of the Naval Service, it is provided that Engineer Officers may be borne for Full Pay, while closing their accounts on supersession, for the maximum period of Five days, at the discretion of the Commander-in-Chief, and whereas we are of opinion that for the proper survey of the Stores of the larger vessels of modem type the present term of Five days has become insufficient, we beg leave humbly to recommend that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased by your Order in Council to sanction that instead of one period being allowed for all Ships, the following scale should be substituted according to the Indicated Horse Power of the different classes of Ships, viz. : -

  Maximum period.
Days.
In Ships with Engines under 4,500 I.H.P. (natural draft) 5
In Ships with Engines under 7,100 I.H.P. (natural draft) 7
In Ships with Engines over 7,100 I.H.P. (natural draft) 10

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.

N. P. 1661 / 1894.
