Table Allowance to Flag Officers on Leave

Admiralty Order in Council No. 59

7 Aug 1894.

A.G.

Whereas by sub-clauses b. and c. of Clause 1 and by Clause 4, both of Article 1387 of the Regulations established in 1893 for the government of Your Majesty's Naval Service, it is provided that Flag Officers, who, after having commenced to receive their Table Allowance, shall temporarily strike their Flags or Broad Pendants on account of absence on leave, shall be entitled to Full Allowance if absent on leave for a period not exceeding 48 hours, and one half the Allowance for a period exceeding 48 hours, such 48 hours to mean two whole days during no portion of either of which the Flag shall have been flying ; And whereas it now seems to us desirable that Clause 4 of the foregoing article should be cancelled, and that, in lieu thereof, Full Table Allowance shall be paid to these Officers if absent on leave for a period not exceeding 48 consecutive hours, and one half the Allowance when such 48 hours are exceeded; We beg leave therefore humbly to recommend that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction the alteration of the aforesaid Article 1387 accordingly.
