Table Allowance to Flag Officers

Admiralty Order in Council No. 79

8 March, 1895.

A.G.

Whereas Your Majesty was graciously pleased by Your Order in Council of 21st October, 1890, to sanction the payment of Table Allowance at the rate of 30s. a day to Flag Officers whilst proceeding to their Stations in their Flag Ships ; and whereas the circumstances are similar in regard to this Allowance when these Officers return to England from their Stations in their Flag Ships, we are of opinion that they should receive the same rate, viz., 30s. a day. We therefore beg leave to recommend that Your Majesty will be graciously pleased by Your Order in Council to sanction this proposal, and to approve of the following provisions for the payment of this Allowance to these Officers when proceeding to, and coming from, their Stations in their Flag Ships as above mentioned, (a.) In cases when proceeding to their Stations the Allowance of 30s. a day to commence on the date of setting up the Mess in the Flag Ship. (b.) In the event of a Flag Officer, proceeding on leave of absence at home for more than 48 consecutive hours, after having established his Mess, to be paid one-half the authorised rate, viz., 15s. a day during such absence, (c.) The payment at 30s. a day to cease on the day preceding entry within the limits of the Station on passage out, and to commence on the day succeeding the passing out of the limits on passage home. The Lords Commissioners of of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in these proposals.
