Pay of the Higher Ranks of Engineer Officers

Admiralty Order in Council No. 91.

N.

4 July, 1895.

Whereas by Your Majesty's Order in Council dated 30 April 1877, and 30 November 1882, certain rates of Full, Half, and Retired Pay were established for the higher ranks of Engineer Officers in the Royal Navy ; and whereas we are of opinion that it is desirable to revise these rates in order to distribute the increments of Pay and Half Pay of Fleet, Staff, and Chief Engineers more evenly over their service, and to place the higher ranks of Engineer Officers more upon an equality with the Senior Officers of the other Civil Branches of Your Majesty's Navy, and also to provide an adequate scale of remuneration for the increasingly arduous and responsible duties thrown upon these Officers by modern developments and applications of Machinery; we beg leave to recommend that Your Majesty may be graciously [leased by Your Order in Council to sanction the rates shown upon the accompanying Schedule, the same to take effect from the first day of April, 1895.

The Lords Commissioners of Your Majesty's Treasury have signified their concurrence in this proposal.

Schedule.
